Our Planting Activities

Costa Rica

One of our partners in Latin America is planting trees in the north of Costa Rica, reforesting former meadow with teak trees and native exotic woods in mixed population.

Ecuador

Plant-for-the-Planet is planting trees in the province of Pinchincha, about 130 km west of the capital city Quito. Gregor Hintler, a student from Germany who spent a year abroad in Ecuador and who has played a sicnificant role in building up our student initiative Plant-for-the-Planet initiated the project in 2008. Together with locals he reforested more than 28.000 trees. He has worked closely with Sr. Edwin Bustamante who is an environmental engineer from Ecuador  and who is now in charge of the project.

Congo

The second biggest tropical woodland is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nevertheless, there are regions, especially in the province of Kivu in the east of Congo, which are classified as  „extreme wood shortage areas” due to an over exploitation of the wood resources.

Malaysia

We are happy to introduce our new Planting Partner! The SMK Teloi Kanan School in Kuala Ketil, Malaysia is planting mangroves for Plant-for-the-Planet.

The schools project began in 2006 when the school participated in the UNEP Billion Tree Campaign and it continues until today.
